Don't cry about that.

Have you heard Tina Shafer's song, "Don't Cry About That"? If I were clever like Daisy I would find it on YouTube and put a link here so you could hear it. I'm trying not to cry about it, but I can hardly believe the destruction that has occurred here. Our neighbor thought he was "helping us clear the brush" as he said, and cut down a whole row of beautiful Rose of Sharon bushes along the fence. As you can see, the fence is very ugly, and the bushes were beautiful. We loved them. Tears come to my eyes just thinking about it. How could someone come into our yard and do this? I am crushed. I still haven't learned how to do links, but last July I posted a picture of this same fence covered in lovely flora, if you're in the mood to do some scrolling. As this neighbor said, "They'll grow back in a few years." :>( I know that in the main scheme of things this is not important, but today it seems important to me. You all know how much I love flowering trees.

Oh Diana, I'd be crying too. I'm so sorry to hear that this has happened. I love flowering trees and shrubs too, and although, yes they will grow back, it will take time for that to happpen. I guess there is nothing to be done about it now, but I can imagine how devastated you must feel. I know I would feel the same way.

Ladydi, they say "ignorance is bliss" but is one of those times I say if you don't know "stop and ask somebody"...I'd be screaming ..

Oh Diana, how sad or you. I can remember your photo of it last year and how terrible for it not to be like that this year.

He did WHAT?! He really should have asked before he even went into your yard, and most certainly he should have asked before he started cutting things down!
I'd be furious! And I remember your picture from last summer, I also went back and saw it now. If he had seen that post, he would know how bad a decision he made.

Thank you, friends, for your comforting words. I have a plan. Since it will take several years for the trees to recover from this, I will get some hanging planters to decorate the ugly fence. I've seen bags you can fill with soil and seeds and after a while you have a lovely cascade of flowers. Sounds nice!
