Tidying up

Yesterday I spent all afternoon tidying up. My sewing area hasn't been this neat since last summer. It was fun to refold some of my stash. I got ideas just by seeing the colors together.
We have two babies due at work in May.

So I got started on a quilt. This is the pattern Jodie (http://www.vintagericrac.blogspot.com/) showed us when she was making her husband's granny a 100th birthday present. It started as nine patch squares, then I followed her instructions and cut each one into fourths.

I just found out today that one of the babies is a girl, so the next one will be pink!

Diana, your sewing room looks great, all neat and tidy and organized. The quilt is beautiful! Those will be a couple of lucky new moms and babies who receive your handiwork. :D

Thanks, Daisy! My sewing "room" is actually part of our dining room. It is just ten steps from the stove, so I can easily prepare a meal and sew at the same time! It is two steps (if you take short steps!) from the computer, and half a step from our dining table which I use for an ironing table while I'm sewing. Most of the time I enjoy being part of the household hubbub while I'm sewing.

Oh I just love seeing your sewing room, it looks so good, I need your help here.
Those quilts will be happily received.

Happy New Year and best wishes for 2009.

Ladydi, I couldn't believe it but I also have a "Futura" and I refuse to get rid of her with all the other "fancy smansy" ones I have. She does most everything I need, I even know how to take her apart and put together again :o) I got rid of the console she was in, the latch broke...The blue baby quilt looks pretty....now on to the Pink one, so you can mess up the sewing room again :o) Ginny

Isn't the pattern just so simple. I learnt it from Annie at flowergarden and she has used it a heap of times - but it looks different every time.
