Query

Do you interrupt someone who is diligently practicing Irish songs in preparation for a gig next month, so he can try on his new socks for a blogger photo shoot?
Or do you just try them on yourself? These socks were great therapy - they got me through Larry's emergency room and short hospital stay, a bad day my mom was having, and a really bad weekend at work. I wish I had renewed my interest in knitting years ago! It's VERY therapeutic.
Now I'm back to knitting snowmen, which is where I started in January. These size six needles seem huge after using size 2 on the four socks it took me 4 and a half months to knit. It's amazing how much faster the project goes with heavier yarn and larger needles. We have some friends who are retiring and moving to sunny Florida. When trying to think of a suitable gift, snowmen came to mind. Choosing hats and scarves for them is going to be fun!

Hope all is better over your way for you.
Mum knitted me a stash of snowmen last Christmas.

The socks are great looking, and I hope you don't think that's the last pair you are making for him! From now on he will think every pair on the needles belongs to him...So get busy..Ginny

Suzanne, it was mainly your mum who got me going with the knitting needles. She does beautiful work, and so quickly!

LOL, Ginny! I'm sure you're right.

Great job with the socks, Diana. I'm so sorry to hear that Larry had recent health problems and that you've had some other bad days lately. I hope things are going better for you by now.

Anne, I had such fun knitting the snowmen earlier this year! I'm happy to be making more.

Well, Daisy, you know how it is with our moms. A good day is a blessing, but a bit rare. Thankfully Larry is fine! Work. . . well, I am very thankful to have a job.

Snowmen to Florida- what a brilliant idea!

Sorry about your bad week, and yes, knitting through hospital visits is really good- with Middlest in Hospital last week I finished off several items, and the nurses were laughing at me. Actually I was thinking of you then- remember ages ago you showed some photos of tops you'd made for a nursing friend in lovely fabric? Well, the nurses were wearing the same style here and I was sitting thinking they really could do with some of your funky tops!!

And the socks are great, and its safer not to interrupt a working musician!! I got wool yesterday to TRY to knit socks...you'll probably be able to hear the swearing from your house in another day or so...

Heather, I have missed you! I'm glad your daughter is back home. Hospital stays may be good for knitting, but not for our peace of mind!

Thank you, Tine! Knitting has been a blessing for me this year.
