Last week's activities prompted me to make this wall hanging. When I was sewing on the lighthouse button I accidentally pricked myself and got a drop of blood on it. Oops. Of course I could wash it out.
Or I could cover it up. Do you like the foot buttons?
Or the lion?
How about a monkey?
Perhaps a snowman in the sand?
A zebra always lends a nice touch. Maybe I should go to the party store and get a little paper umbrella to stitch on. I can't go to the button store to look for a toy boat. The last time I went there I spent way too much money. :>}
What do you think?

I like the footprints- but the snowman is really funny, and the sort of thing somone would have to look twice at to believe their eyes!! I like things like that! But I think it needs more than one more embellishment, so therefore the footprints are good...unless you sew on the whole zoo???
Its just lovely- how did you get all the pieces to fit without gaps? And the birds are ace! They really make the sky. Have you read the children's book 'The Lighthouse keeper's Lunch'? It would really amuse you after making this quilt!
Thanks, Heather! I used Wonder Under and ironed the fabric on a white backing, beginning with the sky and working down. I overlapped the fabric and then used machine satin stitch to hold it in place. This is the perfect size for my very limited machine quilting skills - I had great fun with it.
I love it, Diana! And what a perfect wall hanging to remind you of your trip. I like the feet, I think, but the monkey is cute too. The feet seem most logical as footprints in the sand, I suppose. :)
All of them are nice, I think the feet are my choice...
but the zoo sounds good too! decisions! decisions!

You could always find a shell button. though the footprints are kind of cute.
I think footprint buttons are the best! You maybe know I´m button addicted! :-) Of course someone can think a snowman there to cool would be nice.. No lion, please, because it would eat all the people, who come to swim! I like your quilt very much!!!!
