Our house is having a big birthday this year. It is 50 years old! We have spent the whole summer celebrating. We gave it a nice new roof, complete with new chimney and dryer vent. Woo-hoo!
Socks for party favors (of course).
Every birthday needs some flowers.
A lovely new drain system.
I hope all these tender expressions of our affection show our house how much we love it!
And that's not all! Stay tuned for the inside work to be completed soon. . .

Now your really going to make me jealous! I did a lot of remodeling to my home in NJ then moved, now I wish I still had the grounds :o( I could have chickens wah! Everything looks real good..can't wait to see inside.
Doesn't it feel great when you have a major job like that done. It looks great, Diana. You know how to celebrate a birthday up right! :D
The socks are lovely by the way.
Miss Ginny, I hope the tradeoff for warmer winters was worth the move!
Miss Daisy, it is wonderful, and what could be more fun to spend money on than a new roof? LOL!
Thank you for the sock compliment. It's great therapy. I like your new haircut!
Your house will love you and I enjoyed a snapshot of your home, I often wonder what it looks like.
Thanks, Suzanne! We've lived here for 31 years, and they've gone by so quickly. This is the second time we've had to put a new roof on. The last time was 24 years ago, and we were still thinking of it as our "new roof". As in, why is our new roof leaking? We woke up one morning to cold water landing on our feet. (Better than our heads, I guess!) At that point we decided that a 24 year old roof didn't owe us anything, and it was time to replace it again.
Oh Diana I don't envy you having to replace the roof but at least your house will appreciate it! Lucy xx
